cattle feeder

One of most loved shows when I was growing up is Bonanza. It’s a story about the lives of a cowboy family, the Cartwright. They made living in a farm look glamorous. Even cleaning the cattle feeder looks fun when you watched the show. When I went to Hawaii a couple of years back, I got a chance to live like a cowboy for a few days. Oh Boy, that was tough.
The first thing I noticed when I entered the ranch was the stench. It is a strong, musky odor that’s hard to describe. After a few hours, the stench was in my clothes. The next thing I noticed was how big the horses were. Horses don’t look that big on TV. Even the horses I’ve seen in the circus weren’t that big. Third, I didn’t expect to find horse and cow droppings everywhere, as in everywhere. It took my full concentration just to pass the field without stepping on one. Lastly, logging the food in the cattle feeder was no joke. I was sore all over for two days.
