Fish pond maintenance

My parents bought a weekend holiday place up state. It has a Japanese garden complete with a fish pond. Inside the fish pond they have 8 carps. We added some water lilies to help in the fish pond maintenance. We also bought a new filter and added a janitor fish to help clean the pond.

Fish pond maintenance can be quite a chore. It’s literally like maintaining a huge aquarium. Regardless of the work required to maintain it, the benefits of having a fishpond far outweighs the chore. Our fishpond gives character to the garden. It can be a stress buster also. Seeing fish swim and hearing the water splash takes the stress away.
