Aside from the solar power system, there are other means to set up a cost-effective sustainable energy system. Home wind power is possible by installing a wind electric system. This will lower electricity consumption by as much as 50 to 90%. It can be set up in remote locations, thus saving on the cost of utility power lines. It will provide continuous power supply if installed properly and in the correct site.
Certain aspects should be studied with care. First you have to find the right site. The best site is on top of a windy hill. Make sure that there are no existing obstacles such as trees, houses or buildings. Then you determine the correct size of the wind turbine that will be purchased. Your dealer should be able to help you in this regard. Most important of all, consider the zoning and licensing requirements. With proper installation and maintenance, a small wind electric system should last up to 20 years or longer.
